MOTU is an old company that specializes in audio interfaces, and I think it's their first "affordable" line meant to compete with the popular Scarlett range and the like. I think MOTU M2 and M4 are the best options nowadays in this price range. If the latency would still be this high, I might reconsider that whole plan My plan was to get a Suhr Reactive Load IR, then plug the IR out of that in to an interface and just live monitor it on my computer through the speakers (no signal processing past the RL IR). Is this just due to the software I'm using and what I'm asking of it, or is this latency from the old af POD? My computer is new (Ryzen 3800x, 32GB RAM, SSD) so it shouldn't be a processing power issue on the machine - On the downside, there's no thunderbolt on the motherboard for newer interfaces (built it without recording anything in mind) Right now Cakewalk says it's 22.4ms round-trip with the buffer set as low as it can be to prevent crashing: I know it's inevitable that there will be latency when sending to windows with ASIO, processing within a DAW in Windows, then sending the audio back out the same USB connection, but would a newer USB interface improve this latency at all? So I wanted to experiment with software IR loaders (nadIR) using Cakewalk (Is this app trash now? let me know), and the latency is pretty high using my current setup:Īmp FX send > POD X3 in with no effects/amp on > USB to computer > DAW with live monitoring on a track with a software IR loader > headphone out of POD which acts as computer's sound card
